This photo spread featuring Stonover Farm opens the 2013 edition of Travel + Leisure’s book, The World’s Greatest Hotels. Stonover Farm is the only Berkshire property included.
A 15-minute walk from the gates of the Tanglewood Music Center brings you to Stonover Farm—which at first seems like the classic Berkshires country inn, complete with willow trees and a duck pond. But the five suites are more Giorgio Armani than Norman Rockwell, and the onetime horse barn now houses contemporary paintings, sculptures, and photography. The 10-acre property is the vision of Suky Werman and her husband, Tom, a former L.A. Record producer who helped steer rock acts like Mötley Crüe and Twisted Sister to platinum-selling status. These days, Tom’s pursuits are of the quieter sort: there’s a library stocked with art and travel books and a greenhouse full of garden roses, and each evening he pours wine for guests and cues up some Bill Evans by the fire.
